In the first year of teaching a Statement of Eligibility is issued under the terms of an internship. This year is considered "teaching experience" as a requirement for a Provisional Certificate or regular Teaching Certificate. The Provisional Certificate, which lasts 5 years, is issued if all the requirements are not met for the regular Teaching Certificate. | A 5-year Certificate for Substitute Teaching is requested by the districts and issued by the Office of Teacher Education & Certification. This certification may be reissued or renewed upon recommendation of the employing school district superintendent. The districts can also request the Office of Teacher Education & Certification to issue a 1-year emergency substitute teaching certificate. |
