This
first yearly report details the state of technology
in our schools and the need to fulfill the second
two pillars, content and professional development.
As more and more anecdotal evidence is collected from
leading-edge schools, the link between technology
use in the classroom and student academic proficiency
is becoming increasingly clear. Example provided:
A case study of a school district in Georgia with
high drop out and academic failure rates documents
dropout rates falling from 24% to 3% after a large
effort partnered with business to network the district
classrooms.
Individual efforts in schools across the country correlate
the use of classroom technology and meeting specific
education objectives and to identify the resulting
real-world benefits.
Now there is a pressing need to develop new measurement
tools capable of more fully describing the effect
of technology on learning.
