Classroom Science Curricula
Finders,
Seekers, Science Keepers - Kindergarten and Grade 1
Students undertake real-life science investigations with Marsi the
Marsupial as the communicator, Digger the Bear as the observer,
and Packy the Pack Rat as the collector and sorter. In their own
basement laboratory, they set out to help people learn to explore
science, their number one mission in life.
Two year-long
curricula help students in grades K and 1 become science seekers.
Finders, Seekers, Science Keepers curricula help your students learn
science by being totally engaged as young scientists. This program
is both teacher-friendly and stimulating hands-on learning for students.
Fixer
Uppers - Grade 2
In Fixer Uppers, children gain insights and are encouraged to
ask "What Ifs?" These two little words can have a profound effect
on the belief that an abundance of "What Ifs?" can lead to a lifetime
of inquiry and science learning.
This full-school-year,
integrated, interactive science curriculum for grade 2 is supported
by a 14-episode video series of 15-minute segments. Fixer Uppers
content meets national and state standards and is developed from
the physical, life, earth, and space sciences.
Movers and
Shakers - Grades 3 and 4
Students participate as active scientists as they get "moving
and shaking" to explore standards-based science using age-appropriate
scientific thinking. Video characters, hanging out in Grandpa's
Garage, engage students in activities that foster inquiry-based
learning.
This two-full-year,
integrated curriculum for grades 3 and 4 allows students - through
compelling video adventures, hands-on investigations and web-based
interactivity - to explore content-rich phenomena around the themes
of energy, matter and motion.
S.N.O.O.P.S.
- Grade 5
In S.N.O.O.P.S., students are the scientists, "dedicated to
exploring weird stuff!" Imagine being in the 5th grade and being
invited to join a group of scientific explorers because they desperately
need your help. Through your journeys, you help save endangered
Peregrine falcons. Journeying into a marsh, you discover a major
pollution problem in a wetland area. On an archaeological dig, you
find patterns as evidence to solve the mystery of the Anasazi. And
you even dare to uncover the mystery of a haunted theater.
Video and online
interactivity support this full-school-year, integrated, interactive
science curriculum for grade 5. Communication is facilitated by
interaction among GALAXY students, video characters and professional
teaching staff.

The
House - Grades 3 and 4
Imagine being in 3rd or 4th grade and
finding stories in books that are so exciting that you just can't
put them down! Then, through ongoing discussions with your classmates,
you generate so many new ideas that you just have to write them
down. The House language arts curriculum helps students explore
seven themes using the video series, great children's literature,
and their own real-life experiences.
Through fax
and e-mail connections to other schools, your students become a
publisher to share and compare their ideas with other students from
across the country. The seven themes explored in The House include:
People Are More Than They Appear to Be, Establishing Your Own Space,
Who Is a Hero, Be True to Yourself, People Need People, People Networking
Together Can Make a Difference, and It's Not Fair!
