Assess
Online
Teacher Universe utilizes
a Technology Integration Assessment System to provide school leaders the
information they need to manage and optimize their technology training
programs.
The Teacher Universe
assessment measures skills on nine scales: technology integration; technology
awareness; technology usage; operating systems; word processing; databases;
spreadsheets; presentations tools; and the Internet. Assessment
items are aligned to ISTE/NCATE Standards for Basic Endorsement in Educational
Computing and Technology Literacy. The assessment, which is delivered
and scored automatically via the Web, automatically adapts itself to the
skill level of the individual taking it. For this reason, the questions
vary from test-taker to test-taker.
The assessment is
untimed. Most test-takers report that they finish in less than 45 minutes.
Upon completing the assessment, an automatic score report will indicate
your scores on all nine scales, each of which ranges from 100-300. Your
score will tell you where you fall within our Integrate Course offerings.

The
Teacher Universe Assessment System Includes:
Diagnostic and Post-Training
Assessment for the TU Integrate Series
-
The diagnostic and post-training assessments report scores on the
nine scales listed above. In addition, the post-assessment includes
an authentic portfolio component, described in more depth below.
-
Both
the diagnostic and post-assessments are delivered via the Web in a
multiple choice, performance- and text-based format.
-
The
post-assessment also includes a portfolio-based assessment to evaluate
appropriate educational implementation of technology throughout the
training process. Participants create a technology-integrated lesson
plan for their individual field and grade level throughout the training.
At the end of the training, they submit electronic portfolio projects,
which fulfill the goals of the lesson plan. Projects are evaluated
by the trainer using a technology integration rubric, and feedback
is provided to the participants.
-
Reports
on individual and aggregate diagnostic and post-training scores, and
portfolio evaluation, are provided to program administrators and participants
following the diagnostic and post-assessments.
