Through an agreement between Teacher Universe (TU)
and California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB), candidates who enroll in Integrate 101,
Integrate101 Online, Integrate 201, or Integrate201 Online from TU can use that coursework to apply for three graduate credits from CSUMB. To review your
personal portfolio and apply for credits, go to portfolio.teacheruniverse.com.
Here are some
frequently asked questions and answers about the agreement.
Who is
eligible to apply?
Any candidate who enrolls in and completes all the requirements
for Integrate 101, Integrate101Online, Integrate
201, or Integrate201Online.
How much
does it cost?
$150 beyond the standard course fees.
How do
I submit my application?
The application process is electronic. Go to portfolio.teacheruniverse.com for the templates and directions
required to submit all application materials.
What are
the specific application requirements?
All applicants must complete the following steps in order for
CSUMB to evaluate their portfolios:
- Enroll in Integrate 101,
Integrate101Online, Integrate 201, or Integrate201Online,and view all topics
recommended for you.
- Take the diagnostic and
post assessments - an increase is expected. These online assessments are required components of the Integrate courses.
- Write a reflective essay
(1,000 to 1,500 words) upon completing the Integrate course. Explain how your
course participation influenced the way you plan to integrate technology with
your classroom practice.
- Create a technology-rich
lesson plan that you will implement in your class. This can either be the
lesson plan you created as part of the Integrate course, or a lesson plan
that you have developed independently.
- Implement
the lesson plan with your class.
- Select three samples
of student work resulting from the implementation of your lesson plan.
These must be authentic student work samples selected to demonstrate three
different levels of success in meeting the lesson plan objectives.
Your lesson plan and attached sample student projects must receive a passing score
from Teacher Universe.
- Write a 1,000 to 1,500
word essay evaluating the success of the lesson plan implementation.
Explain what went well, what you learned in evaluating the student work,
and what you will do differently the next time you implement the lesson.
- Outline the next steps for
your technology-related professional development. Based on
what you learned in the implementation process, describe both your
short- and long-terms goals for your continued professional development.
- Pay the
$150 application fee. This fee is non-refundable.
Is my
application secure?
Only you and the evaluation team from CSUMB and TU
will have access to your application portfolio. To view and submit
portfolio information you will need both the username and password that
you were assigned for the diagnostic and post assessments. If you have forgotten
your password and user name, you may e-mail tusupport@riverdeep.net
to request this information.
How and
when will my application be evaluated?
CSUMB faculty evaluate credit applications at least three times
per year, typically once each in April, August, and December. Additional
evaluation sessions will be added as necessary depending on candidate
volumes.
When will
I learn my results?
CSUMB will mail you an official grade sheet within four weeks of
the completion of the semester in which your application was evaluated.
