Simply providing hardware, connectivity, and electronic resources is not enough to ensure increased student academic achievement. Teachers must be engaged in staff development activities that model the use of technology to support a standards-driven curriculum. Leadership activities for both school and district administrators that showcase the effective use of technology to support teaching and learning are critical to the effective use of technology in classrooms, labs, and library media centers. Technology acquisitions that are part of a planned initiative almost always eliminate costly purchasing mistakes. The use of technology must fit into the overall vision and mission of the school district and must reflect the District Strategic Plan. District and school employees, parents, students, community and business leaders, and school board members should be involved in the planning process. Diverse representation on the planning committee will ensure support for implementing the plan. A completed three- to five-year technology plan serves as a roadmap for technology and can provide the baseline data and vision needed to apply for grants and to access other funding opportunities. As a school district
partner in developing a technology plan, our staff facilitates the planning
process to ensure that the customized design will provide a strong foundation
for the school and the community. We believe that teamwork is essential
to construct a solid structure, and as consultants, we lend our expertise,
experience, and knowledge to complete the project.
