Educational Listservs

Below are some educational email lists, know as Listservs. These are email discussion groups around topics of interest to teachers and educators. Subscribers can contribute to ongoing discussions and their contributions go to everyone on the list. Teacher Universe has its own listserv, the "Integrate" listserv. To join the TU listserv, please visit our subscription page.

To subscribe to a mailing list, you must write to the "list manager" at the addresses provided below. Leave the subject area blank. Type the following in the body of your message (using the capitalized abbreviation at the end of each entry below for LISTNAME):

sub <<LISTNAME>> <<Your Name>>

For example: To subscribe to Broad Discussion of Computers in the Classroom, Jane Doe would address an email to: listserv@ccsun.unicamp.br and would enter in the body of the email:

sub INFED-L Jane Doe

Once you have subscribed to a list, keep the following guidelines in mind:

Use meaningful titles when you send messages to a list. The title of your message should clearly convey the content of your message. For example, if you are writing for recommendations of good websites on animal habitats, don't title your message "Recommendations?" A better title would be "Recommendations for websites on animal habitats."

Remember that when you hit "reply" to a listserv message, you are writing to everyone on the list, not just the author. Many people forget that when they hit "reply" to a listserv message, their reply goes to every person on that list. If you only want to converse with the author of a message, write to him or her directly.
