How to Get the Most From Your Web Browser

So, You've discovered the Internet and all of its riches. You can pick a topic and, within minutes, find a plethora of facts and figures. You've made that first online purchase...and it actually got there! So how do you browse more efficiently? How do you get around those little annoyances that seem to come with the territory? Folks, I'm here to help!

Windows, Windows Everywhere!

How many of us have gone looking for something and had our attention grabbed by an interesting link or a banner ad advertising $60 off your order of $65 or more? Next thing you know, you are buying five books at Amazon.com when you initially just wanted that bouillabaisse recipe. Well, now you can keep that original window open while you drift off onto a net-tangent. Here's how:

INTERNET EXPLORER: Hold down the SHIFT key while clicking on any link and a new window will pop up with the page you just selected. Underneath lies the original page!
NETSCAPE NAVIGATOR: Target link [or ad] and right-click. Then select Open In New Window. Voila!
MAC: Either browser will perform this function when you hold the Apple key and click on the link you want.

Share with friends!

Want a quick way to send your pals the great page you've discovered?

Read on:
INTERNET EXPLORER: Go to the File menu and place your cursor over Send. Then select Link by E-Mail. This will open your email client and all you have to do is address the message!
MAC EXPLORER: Click and hold the Mail toolbar button and select Send Link.
NETSCAPE NAVIGATOR: Right-click anywhere on the page [except a link] and select Send Page. Wait for your email program to open, and you're in business!
MAC NAVIGATOR: In the File menu, select Send Page.

Stay Current!
It's a beautiful time for browsers, people! Gone are the days of paying for this essential tool. Since they are free, it just makes sense to stay current. That is, of course, unless your current system won't support it...then you are free to make do. Everybody else, though, has no excuse as it just takes a time investment. Both Microsoft and Netscape are always taking and [surprise!] listening to user feedback. This is evidenced in their latest offering which are available from www.microsoft.com or www.netscape.com.

Enjoy, and happy surfing!!!
